Though Budapest has not been the biggest hit on our journey through Europe, it had one redeeming attraction ... the thermally heated baths. These baths found in both Hotel Gellert Szechenyi furdo at Central Park are amazing. During the day these baths are packed with people beyond any Los Vegas Pool. To put the size of these baths in perspective the Szechenyi baths have 4 outdoor baths and a pool, as well as, 5 indoor pools and a sauna. In addition the Szechenyi baths have a whirlpool that throws tourists around in a circular ring of 10 m in diameter. While the Gellert baths are a bit smaller, they are surrounded by amazing architecture and have a wave pool.
I had a chance to go to both baths, the first day with Tyler & Derek and the second day with Boris (who decided to fly in and join us from a conference in Barcellona last minute). Though both baths are very nice and relatively cheap (3500 HUF = $15), I would recommend going to Szechenyi for the partying and the Gellert baths for relaxing.
All in all, the baths are definitely something to check out in Budapest. Though I'm not sure about the rest of the city.
