Let the Travels Begin!

I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move. ~Robert Louis Stevenson

After five years of slaving away over anatomy books and working countless nights on the medical wards, it was natural for us to want to get away from the rat race. Having turned in our pagers, short white coat and our last H&P as med students we decided to backpack through Eastern Europe for three weeks in order to unwind. Though residency is soon approaching, the next three weeks should be respite from the banalities of modern existence and a short lived Don Quixote like voyage of self discovery.

As of today, our travels will take us from Los Angeles to London to Croatia to Budapest to Vienna to Prague to Krakow to Kiev and lastly to the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine. I'll try to keep track of our journey's as faithfully as I can so our family and friends can follow along at home. However,  resolutions like these are often quickly abandoned on trips such as these ... but I digress.

Right now we are sitting at LAX getting ready to board our 11 hour flights to London. Tomorrow, we will arrive at our first destination and I'll try to post another update.

Best,

Alex, Tyler and Derek
